I was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico, (yes, I'm fluent in Spanish). When my family moved to the Kansas City, MO area when I was in middle school, I got my first taste of volleyball in 8th grade. I quickly fell in love with all sports. It wasn't until high school that I tried out for a volleyball travel team. I was a multi-sport athlete as well as involved in orchestra, choir, and student council. But you couldn't keep me away from the volleyball court. I went on to play 4 years (right side) at Missouri Baptist University. When I was at MBU, I started coaching club. After graduation, I coached 2 years at Tower Grove Christian, followed by 4 years at Westminster Christian Academy with Heather Cumbee. Throw in about another 10 years of club experience at the competitive level with High Performance VBC.
Four years ago, my husband and I moved our family to Nashville, TN to pursue his musical career. He is a free-lance drummer. During that time, I took a break from coaching to support my husband's dreams and raise our little kids in a new city. My daughters are Charlotte (7) and Cora (4), and my son, Julian, is 9 month-old now. I'm happy to be back in the gym after a long break.
I'm most looking forward to coaching this younger age group since my previous experience has been with older kiddos. But the game doesn't change and these skills are fundamental. But most importantly, the life skills that young athletes can learn from sports can never be replaced. I'm thankful to God for the years I was allowed to play and now I love to see young athletes gain confidence and life skills through sports.
I am excited to coach your daughter and help her learn to love the game!
